Large-scale projects

Major projects require special skills and professional planning to bring everything together due to their high level of complexity, a multitude of different technologies, a variety of skill requirements and the possibility of different locations. Our wealth of experience in areas such as automotive, relocation and manufacturing plant construction, supplier development, site development complete up to group certification, the construction of CBD oil production plants and test centres in the Kalahari Desert demonstrate this.

Project Management

 

Thanks to the partnership-based and professional cooperation with our customers, we can now look back on many projects. Whether in Europe, Egypt, Turkey, the USA or South Africa, we have proven to be successfully underway.

The variety of projects include special projects that require individual solutions from a strategic point of view and large-scale projects realised for internationally renowned companies. Typical challenges would be unusual locations such as the Kalahari Desert, which is notorious for its extreme weather conditions and therefore unique for testing opportunities, special machinery and plant engineering for the manufacturing of production facilities for heavy gearboxes. The latter which were developed and built in Germany, with subsequent relocation and acceptance in Detroit, USA.

Location Development

As part of various project activities, the task is often to set up a new site together with the production unit. The scope of the project will include the activities necessary to fulfil future customer requirements.

Subsidiary in South Africa

A subsidiary was founded in South Africa for an international renowned company in the automotive and interior design industry based in Germany. Production was relocated and the subsequent expansion of the subsidiary was supported.

The activities carried out ranged from

  • the initial market analysis and feasibility study for a planned production plant, which was presented to the board in Germany
  • Acting as the South African representative with the necessary authority to coordinate the construction of the new facility

    Acting as the South African representative with the necessary authority to coordinate the set-up of the new facility, some of the activities included:

  • Registration and incorporation of the company
  • Opening and coordinating a bank account
  • Managing and authorising the payments to all creditors, analysing the location of the new facility and negotiating the purchase of a plot of land
  • Purchasing of the land
  • Planning the factory hall layout and liaising with contractors and preparing the new facility according to the companyโ€™s guidelines and instructions
  • Analysing and applying for government grants and rebates
  • Pre-selecting employment agencies including interviewing potential employees
  • Liaising with various government bodies and organisations on behalf of the company
  • Sourcing resources and shortlisting

    Following the arrival of the Managing Director in South Africa, other supporting activities included Group certification for ISO TS 16949, setting up marketing and sales, and creating expansion management.

    CBD production in Kentucky, USA

    A new CBD oil production facility was built within 8 months (from groundbreaking to production) in Kentucky, USA for an Australian biotechnology company that manufactures and sells hemp-derived products to consumers and retailers in the United States and Australia.

    Construction and supervision of a specialised test site

    A most interesting project with unique challenges was the construction of a special test site in the middle of the Kalahari Desert.

    The activities included:

    • Set-up and management of the Kalahari and KwaZulu Natal sites, South Africa, to collect data on climate and temperature exposure of products and vehicles (24/7)
    • Technical operations management
    • Development of software to generate detailed test reports in collaboration with Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, ENTSA
    • Infrastructure development, including water and electricity supply
    • ISO 9001 quality management systems and service provider development
    • Data and product evaluation
    • Marketing and representation at trade fairs and exhibitions
    • Main contact person for the customer for all aspects regarding technology, marketing and quality.
