eNtsa
Innovation through technology.
About eNtsa
eNtsa is internationally recognized as an innovation hub that supports research, design and technology adaptation for the broader manufacturing sector, with a focus on the automotive, power generation and petrochemical industries. eNtsa is a registered institute of Nelson Mandela University and runs a range of programs and projects to promote technical support for technology and development internationally.
Marine Glider – from a unique idea to a special concept
From your idea to the design and prototype construction, including all the necessary tests, we can provide comprehensive support for development projects.
Using the example of the Marine Glider developed by us, an autonomous vehicle was developed that moves without conventional propulsion and only by means of up & down thrust. Equipped with special sensor technology, it is used in the ocean for various surveys.
Technology development: from research and development to production
We are research engineers, who are passionate about developing new, innovative technologies. One of these technologies is the FSW process, also known as Friction Stir Welding.
During 2011, the research and engineering expertise culminated in the development and construction of a production-ready prototype of an FSW platform for GRW. GRW is a leading South African manufacturer of tankers and trailers. Once the platform was delivered to the customer, it quickly became clear that this was not the end of our involvement, but rather the beginning of a technological support phase that is crucial for the adoption of new technology in a complex manufacturing sector.
